
TRI CITY – The South Umpqua volleyball team was pushed to the max on Tuesday evening September 9, but came away with a hard fought 3-2 victory over visiting Myrtle Point.
It looked like the Lancers were going to breeze to a straight set win as they took the first set 25-20 and the second 25-19 but Myrtle Point had other ideas.
The Bobcats went on a run in the third set and finished it off basically flipping the script on the Lancers winning it 25-18.
The followed that up with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set forcing a final and final set.
The final final set went back and forth and it didn’t look to good for South Umpqua as they fell behind by two late in the set but the Lancers rallied and tied it up before going finishing it off 15-13 to take the match 3-2.
Regan Ireland led the Lancer offense with 25 kills and 12 assists while Danika Richardson set the table to the tune of 38 assists and seven aces.
Khloe Westbrooks had 33 digs and Maddie McIntire and Kylee Pachao each had two blocks.
